NEWS: Vlora hosts BLUEQ end-user meetings — one step closer to protecting blue carbon

AULEDA convened representatives from protected area agencies, local and regional authorities, and academia for a scoping and elaboration meeting within the cross-border BLUEQ project. The sessions brought together end-users and researchers from the University of Vlora to co-design practical solutions for monitoring and managing marine habitats of high ecological value—especially Posidonia oceanica meadows.

Often called the “blue lungs” of our seas, Posidonia ecosystems store carbon, protect biodiversity, and improve water quality. Participants underscored the urgency to work together and modernize the tools that safeguard these habitats across the Adriatic-Ionian Seas.
