NEWS: BLUEQ Project Kick-off Meeting- 12 December 2024, Athens
The BLUEQ project officially started on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, with a notably successful meeting where all project partners set the foundations for a united effort to maintain blue carbon ecosystems. The meeting, held at the ERGON Houses Hotel in Athens, marked the start of an exciting journey for partners from Greece, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, as they discussed project goals, roles, and responsibilities.
Partners were introduced through a roundtable, building the foundation for strong teamwork and communication throughout the project. The opening presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the project’s organization, methodology, and planned outcomes, with particular focus on mapping Posidonia oceanica meadows, developing a digital hub for blue carbon conservation, and building a web-based GIS application.
Roles were clearly specified at the meeting and besides that, monthly meetings were planned to ensure consistent development and discuss any newly developed challenges as well. The meeting completed on a positive note, with all partners dedicated to making this a successful start and a willingness to collaborate for the future of blue carbon conservation.
